BMR Supreme is our latest Brown Mid Rib release. It is unique in that it is also a true Ultra Late Flowering forage sorghum, and has a Sweet Sorghum pedigree. BMR Supreme's initial broad scale trialing during the 2004/05 season showed it has superior palatability when compared with popular conventional sweet forage sorghums.
BMR Supreme has very large sweet and palatable leaves which are more easily digested than conventional forage and is especially suited to standover grazing at the end of the summer into autumn and winter where it retains its quality much longer than the late flowering conventional forage sorghums. This hybrid has a unique rolled leaf characteristic which means that the stem, when cut, shows the easily digested rolled leaves instead of a hard pithy stem.
BMR Supreme, because of its soft stems and big juicy leaves, makes very good hay and silage wrap as well as providing plenty of bulk for pit silage if allowed to grow close to full maturity.
BMR Supreme is the first of the Ultra Late flowering BMR sweet sorghum forages and is unique to HSR Seeds.
