Hunnigreen - High Quality, Sweet Grazing for Longer
Hunnigreen is one of HSR Seeds top quality forage sorghums that will not flower until the day length is less then 12 hours and 20 minutes, this means it will remain in the vegetative stage still producing large amounts of quality leaf, when other quicker flowering competitor sweet sorghums have already started the run to head.
This ultra late flowering characteristic of Hunnigreen allows you to graze it when you need feed late into autumn when natural pastures are under pressure. The ultra late flowering also helps combat ergot infection as there are no grain head to be infected, while other sweet sorghums will have already run to head and are susceptible.
Hunnigreen is very leafy forage with excellent palatability when mature. Cattle producers have noted that Hunnigreen shows better drought tolerance and toughness under stress where other sweet forages have all but failed.
For some growers in central Queensland where Hunnigreen has good moisture available and hasn't been frost - affected, it has returned the following spring.
